My mother had her interview in Madrid today and the experience was excellent. We arrived at the Embassy 25 minutes early and were let in immediately. I showed my US passport and was let in with my mother without any questions. The Spanish security could not have been more helpful and we were only asked to leave our cell phones with them. We selected a number for immigrant visas on entering the room and found there were only two others for our category in front of us. We waited about 25 minutes for our number to be called and I was able to accompany my mother to the counter. The lady couldn't have been nicer as she requested and checked off each of our original documents with those forwarded to them by the NVC. She returned the originals to us except for the passport and asked us to take a seat again. This took about 10 minutes. We were called up again 10 minutes later for the counter interview by an equally pleasant gentleman. He asked us both our names and then my mother raised her hand for the oath. He asked a couple of questions about my reason for moving to US 23 years ago and if my mother had visited us. They did not ask to see any photos or supporting material. My mother was asked for finger prints which was a problem as her finger prints are very poor and she has a note in her file when entering the US that she doesn't have any. He was persistent to get something and said her finger prints scored a Zero which he was happy with saying a zero was better than nothing! He then said her visa had been approved. We were in the embassy less than an hour.
