Tokyo, Japan | Review on November 30, 2016: | raydamon
Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
Fiancée was interviewed on November 28th. I was able to go in with her without an appointment.
The police at the gate won't let us in with our Fitbit on despite it being not a "Smart Watch". We had to toss it in the building next to the Embassy. (No one stole them during the hour in the embassy. Thank you strangers.)
The appointment time was 10:30 and we were out by 11:30.
There weren't many people in the waiting room as Mondays are for K-1 visa only(I believe).
She was called three times.
First time: Handed in all documents. Some simple questions asked: (this part was done in Japanese)
Where is your fiancé living now?
What kind of job does he do?
Who is your joint sponsor?
What does your joint sponsor do?
Have you lived in other countries or in any US military bases?
Is this your first marriage?
When are you going to the US?
What is your fiancée going to do when he goes to the US?
Second time: Took her finger prints. Asked if fiancée is Chinese and some clarification on the Birth Certificate.
Third time: Interview Officer.
How did you guys meet?
Specifically when?
Where is he now?
What does he do in Japan?
How long has he been in Japan?
Is this your first marriage? What about him?
When did you become engaged?
So he's going back to the US?
What's you wedding plan?
Have you met his parents? What about him meeting your parents?
Where are you going to live in the US?
Is your fiancée a Chines-American? So are his parents living in China?
When did you last see him?
Most people(Japanese) are approved with few questions asked. Fiancée is not a Japanese citizen so I guess more questions were asked. Overall very easy and I am pretty sure they read all of your supporting documents(not very closely though).
Hopefully this may be some help for the future couples.
