Overall, the process was very long but goes smoothly if you have all the documents necessary. I am going to write a long review, because before my interview, I know I was looking for as much information as I could find.
We were let into the building about an hour before our appointment time (10:30). We waited outside (in a patio area) for an hour or so. They let us inside, and we waited close to another hour. Close to 12, we were called up to the window. The man behind the window mostly asked me (the petitioner) questions. He only asked my Nicaraguan fiance when we met. Everything else- when my parents met him, the reason for my travel to first meet him, etc- were directed toward me.
He said we would be called up again. We waited about 45 minutes. We were called up again. This time, the lady asked to speak with my fiance alone. She asked him some questions in English and some questions in Spanish. She asked him about our religion, how we came to know each other, and his drug history (he smoked marijuana when he was in high school. He left off doing it before he met me three years ago).
She told him to sit back down with me. We talked about what happened and waited about five or ten minutes. She finally called us up and approved us. The process was smooth but very slow.
