It took us about 5 months from the time we submitted the papers on May 2nd to getting our approval on September 20th, it all went smooth and fast. I want to take a moment to thank everyone that left a review because all of your experiences and tips helped extremely!!
After getting the 2nd NOA and Case Number letter from NVC, I filled out the DS160 form online and registered to make both the biometrics appointment as well as the interview on the next website https://ais.usvisa-info.com/es-mx/iv I'm sharing it since i struggled a bit to find it on the first place. We payed the 265 usd online then it was time to decide the dates, from the comments I saw most of you at least took 3 days to get it all done, some people even more, since I only had 2 days to work with I decided to make it happen. I scheduled my medical exam for September 19th at 6:00 am on Servicios Médicos de la Frontera (cause I read they had them the same day), scheduled the Biometrics at the ASC for 3:00 pm that same day and the interview time I got was for 7:15 am on September 20th.
Day of the exam arrived, I got there around 5:30 am (they do not respect appointment times that you have so I recommend to anyone going that you get there before 6:30 am since it got crowded), you get there and sit on the chairs by the door, and you go one by one as you got there to a little counter where they ask to see your Interview letter, passport and vaccines record (only if your type of visa requires it which the K1 doesn't!) They take your picture, then they give you a form to fill with your information, from there you get a number and wait until the digital screen shows your turn. Next you go to another counter and hand in those papers and they tell you to cross the glass door to another waiting area, then a nurse comes out and calls for all the women to go into a room where they give instructions then you get ready for a chest x ray, from there you go to another area where they take a blood sample, then another area for a urine sample, another area where they weight you, measure height, make an eye sight test and then you get into a consult room by yourself where a Dr comes in and asks if you do drugs, drink, smoke, have any tattoos, asks to see them and what they mean, they examine your throat, ears, pressure and full body. After that if you need shots they take you to that area, but since I wasn't getting them they tell you to find the window to pay, it was a total of 221 usd for adults, price for kids is 156.60 (I also saw the price for the shots, the Meningococo one is $125 that's the most expensive one, the others go from $30-$95 so bring extra cash just in case you do need shots).
They told me to go back for results at 1:30 pm, waited around 30 min until they called my name (there around 80-100 people, I don't know if it had to do with the fact it was after the Independence day and lots of people planned for their interview because of that), I got my sealed black package (MAKE SURE ITS COMPLETELY SEALED OTHERWISE THEY WILL NOT TAKE IT AT THE CONSULATE, IF IT'S OPEN GO BACK AND ASK THEM TO SEAL IT PROPERLY)
Next it was time for the ASC appointment, mine was for 3:00 pm, I got there exactly at that time since I was running late and they were already calling for people with 3:10 pm appointments, so I rushed inside, they make you turn your cellphone off, at the counter they ask for your Interview letter, the DS160 confirmation form and passport, you wait until you get called to a window, they take a picture and fingerprints, I was out in 15 minutes tops.
DAY OF THE INTERVIEW
I ran a little behind as well, I planned to get there by 6:10 am but got there at 6:40 am and there was a big line already, YOU NEED TO HAVE IN HAND YOUR PASSPORT, INTERVIEW LETTER, DS160 FORM AND THE SEALED BLACK PACKAGE, IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT IN HAND AND YOU LIKE TRY TO GET STUFF OUT FROM YOUR FOLDERS THE GUARDS MAKE YOU GET OUT THE LINE AND GO TO THE END OF IT AGAIN. After this you wait until they call you up and scan your documents, they let you in the building to get in another line to pass security (I recommend you do not take anything with you other than the papers, they don't allow cellphones in, if you have a big purse or backpack they make you go outside and leave it somewhere then make a line again.. It's a hassle so just don't take anything you don't need.)
After passing the metal detector you get in line again... They let you through another door and tell you to head all the way to the back to the main building, you sit on some chairs and wait until they call you to the first window where they ask for your birth certificate original and copy, passport, 2 passport size pictures, medical black envelope, they also requested I-134 affidavit, and all taxes forms. They asked me for the address and phone number in the us, then they told me to go sit on the green chairs.
It was still early so we waited for about 20 minutes until they actually started calling people up for the final interview, I was a bit nervous because some people are still judgemental about same sex couples but you have to let the universe make the choice and just hope you get the right person to interview you. I heard some people before me and one had been arrested 8 years prior and another girl it was her second marriage and they both got approved so I knew I had nothing real to worry about. I got a super nice guy, he's super blonde, hair up to his chin with a scruff, he kinda looked australian, like Chris Hemsworth. He looked for my file then asked in spanish who was requesting for my visa, I said mi prometida, he asked to make sure they our names right, asked how long had we been dating, then asked if i spoke english and where I learned, then he started talking to me in english from then on, went through all of the papers we submitted, asked how we had met (originally I was afraid of this question because how do you explain it was online but it went fine) I said we met on a fanclub online on twitter, then he asked what it was about and even joked around with me and we both laughed, asked if she had come to visit me in mexico (and if she knew spanish), if i had gone to the us before, if i've had trouble with the law, then went through our pictures together and gave them back to me, he asked me if i had a tourist visa (which is the SIGN!!) I said yes and gave it to him, he put some info on the computer and told me CONGRATS, YOU'VE BEEN APPROVED!javascript:emoticon(' ')
He then gave me a green slip on how to track your visa and I told him to have a great day and left as fast as possible just in case he changed his mind or something.
I was out by 8:30 am, the people inside the main building are very nice, the guards outside not so much so have everything ready at all times and relax, it's all going to be okay, my fiancee told me that many times and it helped a lot! As well as reading as many comments from everyone here, helped me have everything ready and avoid loosing time, so read a lot and may you have the best luck on your journey!! javascript:emoticon(' ')
