Review Topic: K1 Visa

Due to the autoshow (IAA) going on right now in Frankfurt the Hotel Friedberger Warte has “special” rates for a single: 180 euros (after I mentioned I need to go to the Consulate I was told I could get a discounted rate at 175 euros. What a joke!) So I searched the internet and found a hotel websearch (www.rma.de) for the Frankfurt/Rhein-Main area with pretty good deals. I stayed in a 3-star hotel for 59 euros, very close to the city center, simple but clean and a 10 mins U-Bahn ride away from the Consulate.

My interview was scheduled for 8:00 (Sept. 18) but I actually arrived 10 mins late (due to the breakfast buffet at the hotel which was included in the 59euros). I was 4th in line outside the Consulate compound. I needed to show the proof that I had paid for the Visa (e-mail confirmation by Roskos & Meier) and my passport and then got this ticket number. I could go through the security check immediatley afterwards.
Inside the grand hall I showed my waiting number to a “greeter” who told me where I should take a seat. After 10mins I was called to window 23 to hand in my passport, a photograph and the e-mail confirmation by Roskos & Meier and got in exchange an envelope to self-address (and put 4.25 euros in stamps on it) and the information about the “Pre-Preparation of Documents” (1. birth certificate, 2. divorce or death certificate, 3. marriage certificate, 4. police certificate in order of residence, the German one should be last in line, 5. affidavit of support plus supporting documents.)
After about 45 mins of waiting I was called to a woman at window 18 to hand in the above mentioned documents plus my military service record (Wehrzeitbescheinigung). As supporting documents for the affidavit all I needed was the statement from the employer, no tax returns, pay stubs or anything else what so ever. Then she went through my form DS-230 Part 1 and wanted me to confirm the given information. She explained to me again the whole process (Visa contains out of 2 parts: stuff in passport plus the sealed envelop with the missing edge, must enter the US within 6 months, within 90 days after entry must get married, then file for AOS, no traveling outside the US without AP before I receive the greencard, at POE hand the envelop to the immigration officer etc.). The results of my medical were already at the Consulate as I had my medical one week prior to the interview.
After a 20 mins waiting period I was called to the (quite young and rather short) consular officer at window 16. He looked into my file for about 10 maybe 15 mins as I-watched (not knowing that I will be next in line) the couple in front of me having their interview. He first took my fingerprints, then made me sign the DS-156K. For the interview he asked the following questions:
Where did you meet your fiancee? What did you do there? Is she right now in the US? What does she do in the US? Does she work, or study? Do you intend to work in the US? The whole interview was about 10 mins. I did not raise my left or right hand to swear that I tell the truth, I did not need to show ONE piece of proof of an ongoing relationship, no photos, no e-mails, no postcards, no phone records, nothing. Nobody wanted the new and later dated letter of my fiancee that she still intends to marry me, again nothing.
But I still got approved. I should have my Visa within a week.
At 9:45, only 90 mins after I had entered the Consulate, I was done.
Update: My visa arrived Sept. 20.
