My mom just called me and said she got approved! javascript:emoticon('')
The whole experience was fairly quick, the interview with the consul was only 5 minutes. An idiot Bulgarian employee stressed her out before that, saying that my income is not enough to cover poverty level for a family of three. Absolute bull! That woman never took into account the fact that my husband`s income is added to mine to make it work! She never even suggested to mom if I had any joint sponsors or anything to inquire into the details, she just stated it`s not enough and that`s it, putting mom in a state of panic!!! I am so angry at those insensitive know-it-alls who think they are any kind of experts on immigration papers!!! Mom got very confused but gave her the newer paystubs and newer employment letter that I gave mom to show to the consul that I was recently promoted and was making even more money. (Which was not even needed, since our income stands way over the 125% level, but just to be sure...) The whole 15 minute wait for the consul to interview her, mom was thinking the worst! UGH! Stupid ignorant arrogant Bulgarians till the VERY END!!! THIS is why normal people LEAVE that country!
The experience with the consul was completely different, mom was asked very simple questions, and in Bulgarian too - who is your petitioner, does she have any kids, where in Bulgaria do you live... I was expecting much more convoluted questions and prepared mom for what I considered the "hardest" part - the interview itself, but did not anticipate the idiot Bulgarian involvement! All in all, I am too happy right now that the ordeal is over, but will take two stars off this review, because of the Bulgarian staff who need to be taught American-style customer care and taught respect too!!!
I have to also add that I am a little disappointed that the consul does not give an American flag or pin or anything to the approved person, as a token to congratulate them, like I had read they were doing years ago! It is a small but significant gesture!
