Denver CO | Review on September 15, 2016: | europe
Rating: | Review Topic: Adjustment of Status
I had my AOS interview in Denver, CO (the office itself is in Centennial) on July 14th, 2016 and it was a very positive and smooth process. My husband and I showed up about 30 minutes before our 12:30PM interview and they checked us in and sent us to a waiting room before our appointment was scheduled.
What I brought to the interview:
-copies of all mine and my husband’s government ID's (passports, social security cards, both birth certificates, both drivers licenses, EAD, my husband’s divorce decree)
-proof of marriage (photos, marriage certificate, car insurance, utility bills, receipts from our travelling, checking account statements, credit card statements, saving account statements)
-all my old applications (EAD, Advanced Parole, AOS)
-new medical record (since the one sent to Chicago with all other applications expired after one year)
-interview notice with date and time of appointment
The officer brought us back to an office and after we swore in she sat us down and asked us to go over some information that was on the initial I-485 application that she already had. Questions were straight forward and nothing was tricky. She asked us how we met, when we have seen each other in the past and when we were married and when I last entered the US. Nothing was difficult about the interview and the officer was very professional and friendly.
After about 20 minutes she took some photocopies of a few other documents and said she was going to approve us on the spot. She said once we left she would update the system and sure enough I received a text and email two hours later notifying us that our card is being prepared to be sent.
I received my green card in mail a week later.
All in all it was a very positive experience – if you are in a real marriage, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.
Good luck to you all.
