My fiancé had his interview this morning at the U.S. Consulate in Lagos. He got there at about 5:30am and security screening began at 6am. After going through that process and submitting the required paperwork, he waited for his number to be called and approached the window. He was interviewed by an Asian man who wasn't too friendly initially but not mean either. We read a LOT of interview reviews here for Lagos and saw that most people were asked around 4 questions during their interview so that's what we were expecting. My fiancé was asked the following ELEVEN questions:
1. Who is petitioning for you?
2. How did you meet?
3. How does your fiancé know the person who introduced you both to each other?
4. Where does your fiancé live?
5. Is that in Houston? (I live in a suburb of Houston, TX)
6. Have you ever been to Houston?
7. Do you have any kids?
8. Does your fiancé have any kids?
9. When did you last see your fiancé?
10. Did you spend time together?
11. What does your fiancé do for a living?
While he was being interviewed the officer was typing on his computer. After the questioning he said to my fiancé "Thank you for coming... I am going to approve your visa today". The officer told him his passport would be ready in 10 working days.
The officer asked "a lot" of questions but they were very simple and straightforward. The entire interview lasted about 10 minutes. He was out of there by 7:30am. I front loaded the initial petition with lots of evidence and my fiancé took a lot more evidence with him to the interview but none of it was asked for. As someone on Visa Journey has said before-- I strongly believe they know how your interview is going to go before you even approach the window. Often times, their decision may already be made.
I advise everyone to front load their petition and follow the guides here on Visa Journey exactly as they are posted. We spent time reviewing interviews and questions that were posted here and that helped a lot. Lastly, be genuine, pray without ceasing and go in FAITH. We give God all the glory for carrying us through this process. :-)
