This was my experience in the US Embassy in Caracas!
The day of my interview was July 11th at 9:00 a.m, a day before the interview, I stayed in a nearby city of Caracas which caused me to get very late to the embassy (9:30a.m) because of the morning traffic to go inside of the city, I was very scared because almost everybody get to the embassy at 5:30 or 6:00 a.m, luckily in the embassy they don't pay too much attention to the hour of your appoint just the day! my mom went with me for moral support and to hold my belongings because companions are not allowed inside, the good thing is that the embassy is well located so companions can wait outside.
Once inside of the embassy the process went pretty smooth! people there is very nice and polite, when I got to the immigration section, there were 5 other people waiting so I just took a number and sat down to wait my turn, the majority of them were families for DV visas I believe, and a couple for a K1, when my number came up, I went to one of the windows and a Venezuelan young man began to ask for my documents, first my passport, once he verified my identification he went inside and looked for the folder my fiance sent to the USCIS, then he asked for my original police records, then just a copy of my birth certificate and he asked me to open the envelope of my medical results and hand him the inside, he started to look our application documents and organize the ones I gave him and started to ask me:
- what's you occupation?
- Do you know your fiance's phone number?
- Do you know where she lives?
- Do you know the zip code?
- Do you speak English?
- Have you lived in another country?
- Have you been in the US before?
After that he told me to sign a paper, he asked me for my passport style photo and the direction I want my passport to be sent, he was very polite and in any moment I felt questioned whatsoever, it was like a conversation, he told me to sit down and wait to be called for my interview.
40 minutes later I was called for my interview, this time with an American man, he looked kind of intimidating or maybe I was too nervous lol! he said Hi to me and asked me how I was, he made me raise my right hand and make the oath that everything I was going to say is true, then he asked me:
- How my fiance and I met.
- where did we meet.
- How much time we spent together in our last meeting.
- Do we have a plan for the wedding?
- Did we buy the plain tickets and for what day.
- What's my fiance's occupation.
after that he told me that all our documents are in order and that I was approved! javascript:emoticon('') he told to wait 2 weeks for my passport and I left the embassy just right in time for lunch!.
