On August 28th my husband and I arrived at the USCIS center in Graden City, Long Island at 8:00 am. It took us about a 30 min wait before we were called upstairs to the interview waiting area. Then about 1 hour and 15 minutes before we were called to the interview room by a friendly immigration officer. She asked a couple questions like...how did we meet?...how long were we dating before we decided to get married?...and then asked for proof of our marriage. We gave her a few bills we shared in our name, our health insurance card and our daughter's birth certificate. Everything was going smoothly until she informed us that our immigration doctor did not fill out some paperwork correctly so although she wanted to approve us she couldn't without the corrections. I felt a bit disappointed, but the good news is that she offered us an alternative. She said that if we hurried to the doctor's office and give her the corrected paperwork that she would approve us and stamp the card too. So we scurried out of there, drove all the way to the doctor's office (Thank god she was there) waited for 30 min. until she corrected the paper work, grabbed a bite to eat, and then zoomed back to Garden city, where we waited for another hour and 45 minutes ! Then they finally called our name gave us the stamped passport and informed us that I could travel now!!! Overall, the process was pleasant. It was not as nerve wrecking as I first imagined, and the female officer was extremely nice. The truth is that even the long periods of waiting does not seem that serious after you hear the words, "approved" and "congratulations!" Good luck to everyone.
