My husband's AOS interview was scheduled for 10:30 AM, and we arrived at 10:03 AM. All of the staff we encountered were very nice, including the security checkpoint team at the entrance of the building. The building reminded me of a courthouse. The AOS interview was conducted on the 2nd floor. We waited and our number was called shortly before our appointment time (I recommend sitting closer to the entrance and not over by the windows; we sat by the windows and almost didn't hear the officer calling our number!).
Our CO escorted us to her office where she had my husband's file on her desk. She asked us to shut off our phones all the way, then we stood up and pledged to tell the truth. She asked us for some documentation (we had a binder prepared with originals and copies of all necessary documents): the appointment letter and our number, our passports and IDs, my husband's EAD, our lease agreement (with both our names), she verified our copy of our marriage certificate, and later wanted to see pictures of our wedding (which we showed her and let her keep).
She asked my husband and me each separate questions: why are you in the United States, and why do you want to stay here? When and how did you meet? How long have you known each other? Have you met each others' families? When did you get married? Where do you live now? She also asked us the same questions multiple times at different parts of the interview - I wasn't sure if that was on purpose or maybe if she had seen so many people before us and wanted to make sure she was clear? She also looked at my husband's file and verified his information with his verbal answers. She quizzed us on each other's birthdates and phone numbers.
After a while, the interview become really more conversational, which was pleasant. She was fascinated to learn more about my husband's country of birth and his military experience. She complemented us on how organized we were and how lovely our wedding looked from the pictures. It was a pleasant experience.
She told us she recommended us for approval (which I guess means we are approved) and then she explained the ROC process and how important that is to make sure we follow up with. She was also very gracious when we asked her questions about the rights and limitations for green card holders (international travel, who we should follow up with should the card contain incorrect information, what we should do if we move residences).
Overall, a good experience. It took about 45 minutes.
