Review Topic: K1 Visa

First of all, I wanna thank all VJs. Thanks a lot for your generous help. My visa is approved!

My interview appointment is at 7:45am and I arrived around 7:30. I came out around 9:15. It took more than an hour but mostly was the waiting. The actual interview only took 8 mins.

In front of the US consulate, there are two lines waiting to get in. Get in line to the immigration interview queue where you will be guided to get thought the security check. (They allow you to get in 15 minutes before your appointment.)

I was in line with quite a lot of people. Say more than 20... Then we headed to a build where we had our interviews. It was on the third floor. Window 1 and 2 are where you get your number. Then wait at area A for your turn. When your number be announced on the screen, go to your specified window to turn in your documents. They took my affidavit of support, tax returns, notarial certificates, passport, medical report, appointment confirmation and P4 letter. (The CO asked very basic questions in mandarin.)

Then they asked me to wait at area B. They are all in the same floor so it's simple and as other K-1 filers said-- painless. When it was my turn, the CO asked my name in mandarin and I replied Good morning and my name is *** with a smile. She spoke English with me afterwards. Here are the questions.

1. Who is your petitioner?
2. How you meet? Where you meet? How long have you been together? (Met at work. Been together for almost three years)
3. How many times have you gone to America? (Twice to visit him and his family)
4. How many times has your fiancee visited you? (Three times after he went back to the States)

Here is a funny story... When she was getting through my documents, she stopped suddenly. Because my fiancee had several crimes that he committed underage. She said: Miss, it is my responsibility to let you know your fiancee was in possess of alcohol underage of 21... And I said, I know. For three times. She said are you fully aware and you still want me to move forward. I said yes. (I told my fiancee about this and he laughed. Because in China that is not even a crime.) However, I'm aware of the seriousness in the whole application.

5. What's your job? (Product specialist in Tesla Motors.)
6. What's his job? (Grad student in UCSD who is graduating this June. And I intend to join his graduation ceremony. His parents will be there too.)
7. When was the last time you saw each other? (A month ago. Do you wanna see the pictures? CO said no.)

She keeps on typing on her computer. I knew I got approved after the first several questions. She chatted with me about how many crimes that my fiancee committed. Haha. She also asked about some other simple questions. Didn't ask for any photos or resume or passport stamps or anything. It's not luck but our well prepared documents and our true relationship had helped us. Then she said congratulations, your visa is approved. Yay!

I checked yesterday. My visa was issued yesterday. Only took three days! I hope this will help you guys on your immigration journey. Good luck!
