Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

I had to go to Frankfurt for my visa interview. The subway was running late so I had to phone the Embassy to tell them that I was going to be late, and they were very nice about it.

No electronics where allowed, so once you get off the Ubahn(Subway) there is a kiosk called "Consulate Kiosk". There you can leave your electronics and stuff not allowed into the embassy for 3€. They give you a number and just collect it after the interview hassle free.

Once outside the embassy, I was told to get into the Immigrant visa line which was extremely short. I got called up, and they checked my last name to make sure I had an appointment and I got a paper with a number on it.

After that I went through security. Very strict. Airport like security. I then had to make my way to another building.

Once in the building I was sent straight to the Cashiers to pay the immigrant visa fee of around 300€. You can pay in cash or credit card only. The gentleman was really super friendly and helpful. He also took my passport and appointment letter, which I printed off at home. There are no ATM`s on the embassy grounds! Make sure you have cash or Credit Card on you. There is an atm about 15 min walk away from the embassy. I was then told to wait in the waiting area.

After waiting only 5 minutes. I was called up and all the originals were checked... Police Clearance, Marriage certificate and contact information. I was then informed what was going to happen after the interview. I was then told to wait for the officer.

Shortly after I was called up and was asked questions about my wife and I. I had to take an oath. After the interview, I was told, my visa was approved.

Everyone was friendly and professional!
