Husband had his interview today. We arrived at the consulate at 12:50pm for appt at 1:00pm. I expected to be turned away like a lot of other spouses and fiances seem to have been in the reviews before this one. Surprisingly, they allowed me to attend the interview with him, and be a part of the whole process at every window. Everyone working there was very friendly and chatty. When we arrived, we were called to one of the windows to check in, and then told to sit down. Then we were called up to another window to submit original and copy documents to a woman who asked us a few questions. (Birth cert, marriage cert, affidavits, tax forms, etc.) We were told to sit back down and wait to be called again. I was glad I got to come in with the Husband, because we kept each other company and had a good laugh while we waited, since they take away your phone and all electronics before you arrive. We ended up waiting for nearly 2 hours before we had the actual interview, because there were several others ahead of us in the waiting queue... (a J1, a CR1, and another IR1, who ended up being declined because he was missing a form, the poor lad.)

When we were finally called up to the last window for the actual interview, the consulate officer was really friendly. The first thing he did was compliment us on how well organized we were with all our forms and documents. (THANK YOU VJ!) He said the amount of people that show up missing documents or not having things properly filled out was quite a lot, so it was nice to work with our file. He asked us about how we met, what our plans were up arrival to the US and where we plan to live, how our sponsor was related to us, about our kids, and what Husband plans to do for work.

He then made a few jokes. We had a bit of small talk. Over all, the whole process was super easy and nice. He said, "Congratulations! You have been Approved!" at which point, my husband said, "THANK YOU SO MUCH!" and gave me a big kiss. HAHA!

Because I registered with CSC website beforehand via the link that was sent to us through email by the Embassy back when the interview date was assigned, we did not need to pay extra for postage or submit the A3 envelope. I designated for us to collect the visa/passport from our local DPD courier, which the consulate officer said should be available to collect within 10 days.

All in all, the whole day was a very positive one. Now our real adventure begins!!
