I thank God for this whole process because everything was made possible through Him.
My interview was on 14th of April, 2016, exactly 90days after NOA1 (first notice of action that our case was received ), so basically the whole process was exactly 3months.
I got to Walter Carrington in Lagos at exactly 6:20am as my appointment was for 6:30am. As I was walking down the street to the US Embassy I met so many people asking if my documets were complete. That I needed a 5cm by 5cm passport with no earrings on ( that's a lie, please do not pay attention to those people), they also told me I need a coloured copy of my passport bio data page( It wasn't a requirement on the packet sent by the consulate, so I didn't mind the guy telling me all that). As I got to the front of the Embassy, I saw a very long queue, then I noticed there were actually 2 lines, one for non immigrant visas and the other was for immigrant visa applicants, so I joined the one for immigrant visa applicants. The first set of screening process, we were asked to open every sealed envelope (e.g the medical result was sealed and you shouldn't open it until U told to do so), one of the agents started screening us one after the other, he requested we bring out our international passport, appointment letter and confirmation letter) after which I was ushered into a waiting area, I was screened by another security officer who checked my bag to ensure it didn't have any contraband (phone, tabs, makeup, etc are not allowed in) and then I was screened by another security officer who checked and ensured I have no contraband on my body(had to raise up my hands while he used the screening machine), I was ushered to another queue where we waited to be confirmed by the embassy to be sure we had an appointment with the embassy on that day( unfortunately for me, my name wasn't on the appointment list but then luckily for me it was on their system, I had to wait before I was finally allowed to proceed; please ensure u print the email containing the packet 3 as proof incase your name isn't on their list), then I noticed most immigrant applicants were told to sit down in the waiting area while they allowed the non immigrant applicants go in (they had lesser wait time)
We were given a form to fill and given a gate pass, by that time, it was already 8:30am, I was there seated for about an hour then they started allowing the immigrant applicants go in (some already went in earlier tho), so it was finally my turn to go in around 10am, I and some other people were ushered into the part of the Embassy where interview takes place. I was screened again before entering, I was told to press a machine which produced a number and then I entered and another waiting started, after about 30mins, my number popped up and I went to where I was told to submit my documents (2 passport photo, international passport, payment receipt, ds-160 confirmation page, appoinment confirmation, birth certificate(including a photocopy of birth certificate), police certificate, affidavit of support form) and then I was told to sit and wait for my interview. While waiting I saw some people go through smooth interview while some had a tough time with their interviewer but I kept telling God to make mine as easy as possible. Not long after my number popped up at around 11am, I was welcomed with a smile by a beautiful white lady that asked me to raise up my hands and swear that all what's in my application is true, I did and the interview started ( you stand during the interview ). Here are the questions;
1. Its your fiancé that's requesting for you right? I said yes, 2. How did u meet? Told her. 3. When was the last time he visited Nigeria? Told her 4. When did he relocate to the US( this question was a little bit tricky cos I believe they have all the info on their system, my fiancé was born in the US and lived there throughout his life), then I replied her telling her, he was born there. And that was it. She smiled and told me she approved me, I smiled back and told her, awwww, thanks. Then she said " you'r welcome" she handed me a sheet with instructions on how to pick up my passport and told me the current wait time to collect my passport back was 3weeks as that's the current wait time for k1 applicants. Then she returned my birth certificate to me and the pictures my fiancé sent with the petition.
I really thank God as the whole stress was really worth it.
