We parked across the street in the garage for the ease of it. We paid $8 for a couple hours and it was worth it; we figured at this point what's another 8 bucks right? We arrived 45 minutes early in the office (our appointment was on a Friday at 12:45) and the receptionist took my appointment letter and we took a seat. You're allowed phones so killing 45 minutes was no big deal. There were 4 other people waiting and it was relaxed.
We were assigned to officer Koonz who was very nice and very sharp. He joked a bit with us throughout but when he asked us questions he was very serious and looked directly at you. He asked us various questions that you'd be able to easily answer if you were in a legitimate relationship such as where do you live (he was familiar with the area and asked us what was around there too), what are your spouse's parents names and when did you see them last? Does your spouse work? Where? He asked me (the beneficiary) for my birth certificate, and this was my long form one that I supplied with the K1, so bring that one too. He asked to see my passport and our marriage certificate. Once he got to the usual criminal questions I knew we were near the end... the whole thing took about 20 minutes, maybe longer because we chatted a bit throughout the interview.
The text notifications never worked for us (we sent a G-1145 too) for the AOS process so when we got home I checked the USCIS site and saw we were approved; I had my green card in hand in a week. This interview was far more relaxed than the K1 in Montreal. Looking forward to returning for Removing Conditions in 2 years!
