Thought I might post my experience here as well:
Hi everyone,
just got back from Bloomington, MN for our AOS interview today. Here is the story:
Our appointment was at 12.00 PM, we arrived at 11.00 AM and we waited about 10 minutes in the car then we went in, showed our interview letter to the security guard, passed through metal detector and some searching. The guard told us to go to the second floor, suite 300. There was another window up there and we turned in our letter and went into a room with security lock.
For you guys that have appointment around noon at St Paul, it's better to come in a bit early since the lady that took our letter went out for lunch shortly after 11.30, and some other people that came after she left had to wait quite a while.
We waited for about 45 minutes, then at around 12.05 another lady called our name and escorted us to her room. She sworn us in, and first she asked us to show our ID. My hubby gave her his Driving License and she asked me to show her my driving license, SSN, EAD and passport.
Then she asked for our 2004 tax return and my hubby's latest pay stubs. I gave her 2 months worth of pay stubs (she took them all !!) and showed her the new I-864, but she only took the tax return. She asked if we had any children, and my husband said he has one but we don't have any yet.
The interview went very casual and relax, she was very nice and friendly. She asked my husband where he works and what his company does, where it's located, and how far it is from our home to Bloomington. She asked why we married in Canada, and my husband and I explained it to her and she was very interested in our story. Then she asked me if I ever get arrested, ever broke any laws or get deported from US. She asked if we had any proof of relationship to show that we lived in the same address and asked to stack it on her desk. Here are what we gave her:
- joint bank account (checking and saving)
- phone and gas bills with both our names
- copy of our vacation ticket to Las Vegas
- copy of medical and dental insurance
- copy of our dog's medical check-up, showing both our names as owners...
She just took them all and put them in her folder without even looked at them !! I guess she just needed them for her file or something, so my advice here is make sure you make copies of everything if you want them back.
She asked us if we were going to Mall of America after this interview... hehe... and we said no, but we would go to Ikea and eat... LOL !!
Then she said that the card will arrive in mail within couple of weeks and I can apply for naturalization within 3 years if I want to. I asked if I need a stamp in my passport, she said no because the card comes faster nowadays and I don't need stamps.
That's it !! Easy and painless !!
My husband complemented her for the service that we got here, because it's very timely and easy. She smiled and said that it's more of our luck than anything else...
Well, hope this will help for all of you waiting for AOS interview here, especially for Minnesotans-to-be.
Oh, they don't ask for new medical so I'm glad I didn't get a new one. I saw that my medical paper that I gave to Vancouver Consulate during my K3 interview was already in her file, nice and neat.
Good luck to you all and sorry for the long post !
