I just went through the experience at the Naples' Consulate and I would like to share with those who are in the process. Be confident it is not difficult.
The medical examination was schedule for March 7 at 8am. I was there before 8, I was number 3 for the Consulate, they have a special section for the American Consulate. First thing is to give your passport and then a nurse takes a sample of your blood. That was quite fast. Then I went to another side of the building for the x-rays, also very fast and then I was asked to wait in another place until a doctor would call me. At this point a lot more people had come in, there were some kids there two, so those people got ahead of me. After about 45 minutes I was called to see this doctor (I am not sure he was a doctor), he takes the 4 pictures and checks if there is a need of any further vaccination. At this point he tells you to pay (cash or card), he also said that the following day at the Consulate I would get an envelope with the receipt, a cd with t he x-rays (that I am supposed to take with me to the US). Finally I was sent to another part of the building, now for a medical examination. A nurse checked my weight and height, then my vision. The doctor asked a couple of questions about my health history. He checked my blood pressure, he also gave me the vaccine I needed. So at the end I was there from 8 until 10 something. The process was not complicated, but I felt as they were not well organised. Overall, the experience was positive.
The following day was the interview at the Consulate, it was scheduled at 9am. I got there at 7.45, there was already a family of four and another person for just asking a question, at about 8 the police man came to ask at what time we had the appointment, and made me go immediately in. At the entry, airport security style and you need to leave the cellphone there, I was given two numbers, one to collect the cellphone at the end and the other would be the number that they would call me inside the consulate. Everything is at the second floor. I went in, there was a young couple at a booth giving in the documents that they were asked. As soon as they ended I was called. This lady, with a great Italian welcomed me and started asking me the documents. First it was the passport, then the gave me the envelope with the x-rays and the certificate that I have now all the vaccines required to immigrate to the US. I was asked for the letter of confirmation of the DS-160 form and the confirmation that I had payed the courrier. I noticed that she checked the DS-160 form. After that I was asked for the birth certificate, and the police certificates. Then it was the Affidavit and the taxes of my F. It took like 10 to 15 minutes to go through this process. At the end I was told to wait until the Counsel would call me for the interview. I waited for like 5 minutes or so. The counsel, was a very welcoming and friendly lady, very smily. I was asked a couple of questions, the first being when and how I met my f. She asked what I did for work. She noticed that I was born in a different country than my citizenship and so she asked me why. After she said the wonderful words of: Congratulations, you are approved. You should get your passport within 5 days. And then she usual requirements for the K1 visa, you have 6 months to get to the US and once you get in, you have 90 days to get married with your F. By 8.45 I was already out calling and waking up my F.
Overall it was a great experience. As long as you have all the documents that they ask for, the process is clear and simple. Nothing to fear. They were all very nice.
Good luck for this process and for your life, the biggest challenge is life not this process.
