I am very surprised to be writing this review right now. I did not expect to pass our interview and we would not have passed without other people's help in VJ so if you are reading this please share your experiences also for the benefit of others in the future.
We arrived at 6:15 and was 2nd in line to go in at 7:20 am. The line starts at the left of the Window and extends to the left for anyone who has never been there. There were 40 to 50 people and maybe 15 to 20 of those were fiancé visa applicants. There is a rumour starting In Cambodia that the beneficiary should go alone, this is not true. If the U.S. citizen can go, they should be there with their fiancé for this interview. Our experience was very good at this consulate. The employees are very courteous and professional. And we were out of the building by 9:30am. First thing you do is take a ticket then have a seat. They will call your number 3 times. First to hand in your papers, then to get fingerprinted, and last for the interview. The CO was a nice man about 35 and spoke both English and Khmer very well. He asked me to sit down while he talked to my fiancé first then he would call me up after. We had practiced every question we could find on the Internet during the week before the interview and I am very glad we did because he asked us almost every one of them including my brother and sister names, parents names, where they live, our favorite foods, how we met, how many times I've been to Cambodia and every other question we could find on google. If you don't know each other very well you're not going to pass. He also looked at her ring closely so do your fiancé a favor and make sure it's a nice one.
Our petition was 145 pages and 65 pictures detailing our trip to everywhere in Cambodia. A trip to Thailand and evidence of us talking on the app called line for 2 hours or more every day. Our engagement was on my second trip to Cambodia and this was my 3rd time to Cambodia.
If you want to pass your interview.
- know everything about each other and the answer to every interview question you can find online
- dress very nice
- lots of evidence. A trip together out of the country will help.
- be confident, polite, and smile
- both of you should be there
- be honest. If your not and they find out you may never pass no matter how many times you try.
One last thing, her police certificate took 6 weeks so make sure you apply at least 2 months before the interview. Good luck.
