Tips:
1. Bring a copy of your interview email
2. Double check that your birth cert information matches your passport
3. Don't forget to translate your birth cert and bring the original and a copy.
Our interview was at 12:30pm. We showed up at 12:00 to get in line, but we didn't actually wait in line at first so someone who was there after us got ahead of us, but it's ok. There were only 4 people total waiting. We were 3rd.
You will first be checked by the guard, they will want to see your letter of invitation and your IDs. I went in with my fiance so I had to show mine as well. I only had my US drivers license because my passport was being processed at Immigrasi for my exit permit. This was not a problem. They asked for his KTP, but he showed them his passport and this was fine as well.
Next you enter a room where you put all your things through a detector. You cannot have a phone, kindle, cable, usb, or anything electronic with you. Next you follow the red signs to another room. When you walk in, just have a seat. They will say "First in line to Window 7". So whoever was first in line outside goes first, and so on. This is where a woman (a bit impatient, but nice) will take all your papers. I was surprised, they didn't want any of the text messages, phone records, or our prenup. Even though we had everything in both languages. I assume she prepares the packet to give to the CO. We gave her the I134 and supporting documents, but check what she takes. She took some things, but not all. I had to make sure she took my home appraisal since I was using it as income. But she only took 3 months of bank statements and the bank letters.
Then you sit down again. If you paid ahead of time, you don't get up again for your interview. If you need to pay in cash, make sure you ask at the payment window if they don't call you. Wal went AFTER his interview to pay and it's a good thing because otherwise they would have let us leave.
They did not call me into the interview room at all. Wal went in and 8 min later walked out laughing. You could hear laughter in the room as well. It was a man who interviewed him. He asked these questions:
1. How did you meet your fiance?
2. When did you meet your fiance?
3. Do you have any family in the US?
4. Have you ever been to the US or other countries?
5. What does your fiance do for work?
---follow up questions about this because I do pretty cool research and everyone always asks questions
6. Was your fiance ever married?
7. Who is your cosponsor?
-- he actually said only me, but it should have been me at my Dad, I guess they didn't care.
8. Do you love your fiance?
That's it! He walked out with a white piece of paper that said "Congratulations!" and gave instructions for how to insure he gets his passport.
