I had my interview on Friday 8th January, 2016. at 7am. At the US consulate in Lagos. I arrived at the consulate by 6am. Alot of people where already there. We were Ushared into the consulate building at 6:30am by some security Agents after been scanned. we were being given a serial number upon entry into the interview hall. My number popped up on a screen. And I went to a window where an African woman attanded to me. She requested the following documents from me.
*My Int'l passport.
*2 passports photograph.
*Affidavit of support
* My Fiancé's Tax return,
*police report.
*Fiancé pay stub
*Medical result
She also asked if I knew my Fiancé phone contact off heart. And I gave it to her
*My Birthday certificate (note: make an extra copy) photocopy was also taken.
I was ask to go back to my seat. My number popped up on the screen again after 30minutes. It was time for me to be interviewed....
I was interviewed by a white lady.
Here comes the interview...
Co: Good morning
Me: Good morning (with a soft smile).
Co: Raise up your right hand and swear a oath. Promise to say nothing but the truth.
Me: I raised up my right hand & I repeated after her.
Co: Who is inviting you?
Me: My Fiancé
Co: What is her Name?
Me: Told her
Co: What does she do in the US?
Me: She works
Co: what kind of work?
Me: told her
Co: Where does she work?
Me: told her company name.
(Co looks into her computer while typing some stuffs on her computer keyboard)
Co: Where does she live?
Me: North Carolina.
Co: How do u know her
Me: I knew her through my Sister
Co: Does your sister lives in the US?
Me: Yes
Co: How did your sister get to know your Fiancé?
Me: They attend the same church
Co: Where does your sister live in the US?
Me: Georgia
Co: How come they attend the same church?
Me: Lemme explain.... My Fiance previously lives with her parents in Georgia before My Fiancé got transferred at work to North Carolina.
Co: oh...ok... ok... I understand.
Co: Have your parents met your Fiancé before?
Me:Yes
Co: Since when Have you been working as an Accountant?
Me:Since 2013
Co: Have you made any marriage plans with your Fiancé?
Me: Yes
Co: Where do u plan to get married?
Me: In Georgia cos that's where Her parents are.
Co: Ok.
Co: Have you done any traditional wedding here in Nigeria?
Me: NOOO...
Co: Have your Fiancé been married before?
Me: NO!
Co: Have you been married before?
Me: Nooo!
Co : Your Documents are complete.(co opens our case file and closed it back;
I could sight my int'l passport in between the folder)
Co: Your Visa is Approved! (Co Gave me a white sheet. Go to the circled address to pick up your visa in 2weeks time. K1 visa usually takes two weeks to process. She further explains...
Me: Thank you very much. (With a big smile).
The Co never requested to see no prove or evidence from me. Of which I went there with a trailer of evidience. lol.
Note: Make sure u know basic informations about you and your fiance very well. It gives confidence
* whatever you don't know. Just say "I dont know". Better than answering a question wrongly. Cos they have every information on their computer.
*Arrive at the consulate 1hour before your appointment time. It helps you to relax and calm your nerves.
*Pray
*Be relaxed and confident during the interview process.
*Dress in a way you fell comfortable with. Look smart and cool.
