I, the USC, attended with my husband. I did not need to do anything other than show up with my passport and his letter. At entry they asked me to confirm that I was the petitioner. We came to the embassy about 45 minutes before his appointment and we waited in a line with others until about 15 min before 1pm (our appt time) before they let us in to security.
Once inside we took a number and waited. The first time we were called was just to take our number and the first page of the interview letter we had received - this lady was rude and short but by far the worst we saw all day thankfully.
The second time we were called was to provide originals of documents we sent to the NVC. She wanted originals of his birth certificate, our marriage certificate, his police certificate (casier judiciare). She also wanted the copy of the ds-260 completion and the email indicating we had registered our appointment with usvisainfo. She also asked if I wanted to update anything in the i-864. I told her that I had a new original if she wanted it but nothing had changed and she declined to take it. She gave us back one of the passport style photos.
The last time we were called was with an American. She asked him just a few basic questions in the interview part: How, when, and where did you meet? What language did you speak together the day you met? Why was your wife in France when you met her? When did she return to the U.S.? Where do you live now and where does your wife live? What does she do for a living? What company does she work for? When was your wedding? How many people attended? Was your family there? Was her family there?

They never asked for more evidence of our relationship.

At the end she told us Felicitations! They kept his passport and told us we should get his passport back in 10-12 days.

We were done by 3pm but were only 4th in the line so there were definitely others that took longer.

Overall, the embassy personnel were friendly but there were a few that getting things done quickly was clearly the priority not compassion for the stressed, nervous people in the room.
