Review Topic: K1 Visa

I had a good experience with the U.S. Embassy in Sweden. I arrived around 7:45, although my appointment wasn't till 8:30. I stood in the yellow line as advised from fellow visajourney members. Around 7:55 I was called by the consular officer who asked me for my passport and for me to take off my jacket and show the soles of my shoes. I then went through a metal detector like you would at an airport. My phone was put into a little cabinet and I got a number so I could retrieve it after the interview. I then followed the yellow line up to a different building. I was asked by an officer what I was there for, I say "K1 Visa" and I was asked you go to window G. I stood there waiting for approx. 10 minutes before anybody showed up at the window. I was asked for all the required documents as they asked for in the email they had sent earlier. REMEMBER TO BRING ORIGINALS OF EVERYTHING. They don't just want copies - I made this mistake with one document that I now have to send to the embassy before the visa will be issued.

While handing over the documents, the woman at the window asked a few questions about my fiancé's job and for how long we had known each other. She then asked me to take a seat and wait for my interview.

I waited for approx. Another 10 mins. and then I was asked to come to another window (not G but it was right next to that window). Here was another officer. First he asked me to take an oath and have my fingerprints done. He had looked over my proof of relationship which I gave to the other officer and he handed the documents over to me - didn't expect I would get I back. He asked me a few questions; How did you guys meet? What made you like him? When is the wedding? Has your fiancée ever been to your country? -I elaborated more than just these questions so that's probably why I wasn't asked more questions.

He then told me that we were approved but that I would have to send in the required ORIGINAL document (had provided a copy) before the visa would be issued.

That was it. Very easy and pain-free. I was very nervous beforehand and was still shaking right after the interview. The staff was really nice and helpful - they're not something to worry about even if it's all very official.

I was out again around 8:40
