My interview was scheduled on the 7th of December 2015 at 14:00. In the Sofia embassy, the immigrant visas are scheduled in the afternoon.
I went there at 14:00 and the guard let me in, I passed security (it is the same as the airport security) they took my phone after I turned it off and gave me a number to get it back after my interview.
Then I went down the alley and entered the visa bulding, I paid the fee 265USD and I was told to wait for my documents to be taken. I sat down and then a lady came to me and handed me a document in which it said to arrange my documents in a specific order. The documents I brought were:
Documents
Certificate of Marital Status, Spouse & children (удостоверение за семейно положение съпруг/а и деца It is important to bring the document for spouse and children, not just the one for certificate of marital status. Original + translated copy
Police Certificate (Свидетелство за съдимост валидно за виза САЩ Original + translated copy
Birthday Certificate. Original + translated copy
Affidavits of Support. We had two co-sponsors since my fiance was a full time student.
Printed the confirmation page of the DS-160
Copies of NOA1, NOA2, and the NVC case number letter;
G25A, and the petition for Alien Fiance;
Passport copy of my fiance’s passport;
Updated Letter of intend (mine);
Declaration of having met in person;
One Visa size photo (just go to a photo studio and tell them you need a photo for an American visa, they would know what to do);
Relationship Evidence Documents
Skype Logs, Skype Screenshots; (30+ pages)
Facebook Logs, Facebook Screenshots (60 pages of messages logs & 12+ screenshots)
Viber logs;
Emails;
Stamped passport copies of my fiance (In color so that the stamps can be seen well)
Boarding passes (my fiance came to visit me since my tourist visa was denied earlier this year so all travel evidence is his;
Airplane ticket;
Wedding invitation;
Hand-written letter;
Postcard;
Receipts of his stay here (restaurants, cinema tickets, hotel invoices, etc)
Photo Album; (36 photos)
And of course, the flag of the mighty state of Arkansas that he gave me
I had all the documents needed, but i forgot to make copies of the Certificate of marital Status and the Police certificate but the person taking my documents said there isn’t really a need since they have a date of expiry, but it is a good thing that you have the copies.
When my turn was up, I had to give the documents to a Bulgaria official, he asked a few questions:
Have we met in person;
Where did we initially meet;
Do I have evidence of relationship with my fiance;
Do I have photos of us together;
I told him I am bringing a big folder full with relationship evidence which I handed to him. Then he told me to fill in the DHL document and that he will be back in a few minutes. I filled the document, then waited around 15 mins, then he returned and told me to wait for my fingerprints.
I sat down, then I was called for the fingerprints which were very fast, then I waited for a very long time (methinks 30 - 40 minutes) while all the other interviews were over (I was the only one there for a K-1 Visa) and then my turn was up. The fateful moment had arrived!
The Interview with the consul
I went to the cabin where the interview took place. A very nice consul lady said hello and asked me whether I swear that I will only tell the truth. I swore and then she started flipping the photo album and asked me these questions:
How did you meet?
Have you ever been to USA?
When did he come to visit you?
What does he do for a living?
How are my parents taking my leaving for the States?
Is he a veteran? (since she saw his prosthetic foot in one of the pictures)
When did you apply for your tourist visa?
Have I graduated from University;
Do I have a diploma from high school;
That was it, very few questions, I was worried that my previous B1 visa denial would be a problem but she said it was actually a good thing since it showed that we really had a bona fide relationship due to the fact that I intended to go to USA to meet him earlier this year :O
While she was flipping the album she said a couple of times that we look very cute together and that my fiance looks very happy Such a nice lady!
Then she opened the big folder with the messages logs and what not, she only flipped it, then took out the wedding invitation, looked over it, put it back and she again said we look very sweet, then she only glanced at the Affidavits of Support, but didn’t open them, and she said, congratulations your visa has been approved, you will receive it in a few days
I was very worried first of all because of my tourist visa denial second due to the fact that my fiance was a full time college student and wasn’t making money so we had to find two sponsors, but thankfully none of this was a problem. I was approved Dec 7 and received my visa Dec 10.
And now, I am off to the states to marry the love of my life! I wish everyone good luck and remember if your intentions are pure, everything will be okay, even the visas. The most important thing is to keep a very good relationship with your fiance and then will will come to its place.
If anyone has questions, they are welcome to PM me!
Many thanks to this forum that helped us immensely!
