The interview was scheduled for 9:45am on 12/8/2015 in Jerusalem. We left a few hours early from home to be sure to beat the traffic and it was a good thing we did.We needed to stop by the medical office to pick up the package and then make our way to the consulate.We arrived 45 minutes early, I dropped of my husband because they made it clear I was not allowed entrance.
My husband was allowed inside after 15-20 minutes of waiting in line and in about an hour later he was called to the window and they told him,that on the DS-260 he entered that the last passport was issued in Costa Rica and it's not correct because it was issued in the embassy of Israel in CR and not in Costa Rica. He would need to go to the computer and change it or the interview would be canceled and rescheduled for another day.The issue for my husband was that he had never filled out one form in the process, and knew nothing about how to do so, I did it all.The woman who informed him was very kind, but clear that she could not help him but did give him the website, showed him where to find the DS-260 and let him at it, with the warning he must finish with the SUBMIT button at the end or it wouldn't go through and change the result and he would need to come back.He figured it out, but when he went back to the window some time later they told he it didn't change in the computer and he would have to wait. He went back and printed out the form(it was great they had one)and showed them it was indeed changed. They informed him he would still need to wait for the computer to show the change. He waited another 45 minutes or so until they called him again and told him it's through and they would proceed with the interview and they at that point asked him for the exact papers they called ahead to be sure he brought with him which were, original marriage cert,original divorce decree,his proof of name change,police cert and denial letter from the extension of his tourist visa back in 2008 and his two passport photos.He was interviewed by a very sweet woman, with dark hair/bob cut who was training someone else during the interview. She asked very few questions and was extremely positive and smiling throughout.She asked why we are leaving Israel now after all this time?(We have been here 6 years and married 7)How many children?How many years married?He overstayed his tourist visa back in 2008 and she just wanted to know the dates, not why. Because it was less then a year,the penalty has finished so she gave no grief and told him he is lucky! Accepted and good luck!That was it.They told him the visa would be sent to us and we should get it in a couple of weeks. Overall he said the experience was VERY positive, even with the stress and confusion of the beginning. Everyone was kind and sweet and extremely helpful unlike our experience with the Israeli side when working to get my visa for here.Hope this helps...and good luck on yours!
