I had my interview yesterday Dec 10. I woke really early as i had to fly to Johannesburg from Cape Town. It was really easy getting there, just hopped on the plane and then took the Gautrain to Sandton. I arrived at 11:30 for my 13:00 appointment. I was the second person there. There are some benches outside while you wait so i sat there until it was time.
at 13:00 a lady called out our names from the list and we were let in one by one. Inside you are given a number and you have to wait to be called. It wasn't long till i was called to a window. There a friendly South African lady went through our I-129F. It took her a while i was getting a bit nervous that she was thoroughly going through everything. She asked me where i stay in the U.S. Eventually she asked for my unabridged birth certificate, I-134 form and tax returns (i gave them proof of employment and pay stubs because i had them) and police clearance. She didn't ask for more proof of relationship as she said we had ample. We got an RFE before our NOA2 for that so we flooded them with proof.
After we were done i had to go to the cashier to pay. No problems there as my name is on my card. Then i was instructed to go back and wait.
I didn't have a watch or my phone but i think i waited about 30 - 40 minutes before i was called by the IO. She was a friendly American lady she asked me the following:
What is your fiances name?
Where did you meet?
What year did you meet?
Where did you go for your first date?
Have i lived anywhere else other than Korea and South Africa?
How often has he been here and i there?
Then she said everything seems to be in order but they didn't have my medical results. She asked how long ago i had them, it was over 2 weeks ago. I explained that i had to have extra testing ass they found scarring on my lungs and perhaps that was the reason. She said she was giving me back my original documents and my passport. She also gave me a pink slip 221g and told me that our application has been approved pending my medical results. She said once they have received them and everything is ok, then they will call or email for me to courier my passport so they can issue the visa. And that i will receive a brown envelope with my visa that i must not open and hand in at POE.
Then it was back on the Gautrain i got back to the airport at 15:00, plenty of time before my 17:50 flight.
All in all i was super nervous but things went smoothly. I knew that i wouldn't get my visa right away if approved but i was surprised that they hadn't received my other medical reports. The wait is not entirely over for me but i'm 90% there.javascript:emoticon('')
