We had our interview on July 26, 2007. It was an 8:30 appt. We got there about one hour early. They let us right in with no waiting. We sat down on the benches that are positioned the wrong way and waited. 20 minutes later we got called to window 12. She asked for her passport,156 and 156k, then told us to sit back down. Please be aware, the embassy will send you a 156k supplemental form in Spanish..it is not the same form you see on any website (VJ or Government) You need to fill out that form and not the one page form from the websites. After a 40 minute wait we got called up again to window 12. She asked for the rest of our documents and asked her some simple questions...(When did we meet? How long?? How many times have we met in person?).I tried to give them a CD with our instant messaging history since it was over 1000 pages, but was told they are unable to insert any CD into their computers. It was not a problem though since all she wanted was the pictures. I gave them 3 years of tax transcripts, nothing else since I recently started my own business. They were not really interested in a mound of paperwork so keep it light and simple but be prepared. We then sat back down for another 30 minutes and were called to door 15. We walked in and there was an American man sitting behind a glass partition.He asked if she spoke english, she said a little. He told me the interview would be conducted in spanish for her benefit. He asked her 2 questions...not even sure what they were. Then he asks me if I liked the food in Peru? Him and I start a conversation that lasted 15 minutes long that had nothing to do with the visa and more to do with Peru. He was the nicest guy and we were treated very well by everyone. I will quote him of the few questions I did ask about the process.."He said it is very beneficial if the petitioner comes to the interview. He said that no one should be nervous as long as you have the documents in order that they ask for. They are not there to refuse true couples or make it hard. They are there to catch fraud, which he said he sees a lot of." After our talk he says "ok you are approved and welcome to America". We walked out and my fiance starts laughing and says to me...that wasn't even an interview, he talked to you more than me. We went to DHL and waited again. It costs $5 american dollars there...Oh yea the $100 fee you pay at the bank actually fluctuates just a little with the currency exchange rate..so it may be a dollar or 2 more sometimes. Overall it was painless..You end up waiting and driving yourself nuts more than anything..My advice is to be prepared and don't worry cause you will get your visa.
