My appointment was for 8:30, I realised a week or so out that my flight (earliest flight to Sydney from Brisbane in the morning) wouldn't be landing until 8:05 local time, due to daylight savings. I emailed the consulate and asked if I could have a later appointment time, or just show up and wait, but that I would be late. They said they would let security know I'd be delayed that morning. And I was! Due to traffic, I arrived at about 9:30.

This turned out to be fortuitous as I'd been dreading having an "audience", knowing I had a complex and very personal interview ahead. Luckily, I had only one other waiting behind me so that really helped my nerves. All the staff were friendly and efficient. It helped that I had a folder with tabs, so I could access everything I needed without shuffling or fumbling. I highly recommend this.

The questions I remember were:
"When did you meet?"
"How did you meet?"
"Do you have mutual friends?"
"What does he do for work?"
"How many times have you visited?"
"Did you visit Minnesota both times?"
"Has he visited you here?"
"Have you met his family?"
"Has he met your family?"
"Has he ever been married?"
"Have you ever been married?"

I was approved and floated out of there, so happy! I received my passport with visa early this morning, my interview was Tues, so it was very quick.

I think it helps to be organised and if there is an issue getting there, let them know (email is good). If something asked for is unattainable, show that you've done everything you can to find the information, then leave it up to them to decide if admissible, with the info they have.
