The US consulate in Costa Rica was very easy to work with. Once we arrived for our interviews, we waited about 1 1/2 hours before we were called up to the window. We were very organized so it helped the process once we got to the window. We were informed that we lacked a specific type of birth certificate for my fiance's son. It's called a digital birth certificate. My fiance had never heard of such a thing and to this day, no one we have asked has heard of such a thing, but it does exist. If you fiance has a child, MAKE SURE YOU GET A DIGITAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE FOR THEM FROM THE REGISTRO CIVIL. Once we had the certificate in hand, we went back to the consulate and they let us right in. Our case worker called us right up to the window and we gave him the certificate. He then told us that her son was approved. We had our visas in hand 3 day later. They were very kind, easy to talk to, and even funny. We really enjoyed our interview experience.
