Norfolk VA | Review on July 6, 2005: | mikeize

We just had our AOS interview in Norfolk, VA this morning. The letter said 8:30, which is exactly when that office opens, but in fact we were admitted at about 10 minutes to 8! The lady was nice and not intimidating, she asked us the usual questions about criminal history etc... We had to show her some W2's that weren't in her file for some reason (good thing we had copies) and also my tax return from this past year. She asked us how we met, and my wife told her our story. Our one problem was that we didn't have sufficient proof that we live together. We live with my parents, so we don't have a lease, utility bills, etc. Also, we don't have any credit cards, health/life insurance, etc. Our car is in my name only, and our joint bank account is not sufficient proof, she said.
Soooo, she sent us off to get three notarized affidavits from friends, testifying to our living together, AND we still have to get some other proof of domicile. We're hoping to get something from our school, but we are open to suggestions as well!
Anyway, she gave us an addressed envelope in which to send these last documents, and she said she would approve our case upon receipt, and that the card would be mailed within a week or two! We were out of the building by 8:30!
So, overall we are happy with what happened today, but we DO still have to get a couple of things (at least we don't have to make the 3 hour drive again!)... and again, if anyone has a good idea/experience as to what else we can use... please feel invited to let me know! (Also, any other questions about my interview, feel free to ask about details I may have left out). Good luck everybody!
