On August 31 my fiancé had his interview for his K-1 visa. I flew to Ghana and went with him to the US Consulate. He presented the evidence to one of the officers and paid the fee.
Less than an hour later he was called to the window for his interview. He was asked various questions from very basic to ones related to our families, our life together, and our wedding plans. Then I was also called to the window. I was expecting to also be asked questions. Instead, to my surprise, she congratulated both of us and said that she would approve our visa. All the sudden I found myself so touched that I shed tears. The officer also was touched and had teary eyes. She said that it was her first case of same-sex fiancé visa.
We were so happy. On September 8th my fiancé traveled received his visa and on September 12th he traveled to the US. We just got married on October 15th.
To all of those who are struggling with obtaining a visa and put all the blame on the Consulate, please make sure you gather and organize as much evidence as possible. A lawyer assisted us. We recommend you also get professional help.
