Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

We had our interview yesterday at 9:00. We arrived around 8:20 and went straight up to Window 1 (easy to find) and said we were there for visa immigrant interview. They asked for our name, and said they said to wait in front of window 1 until closer to 9. We watched the long line of tourist visa people.

At 8:45 they called our name via speaker and we approached window 1. They asked us to give them one of the two passport size pictures and we turned that in. Next they gave us a piece of paper to allow us to go inside and pass through security, and the green folder. The green folder is like a golden ticket, VIP pass.

Passed security we went straight to the fingerprint station and waited in line, but a guard saw us with the green folder and said you don't have to wait in line. We went straight up to the window and got our fingerprints taken.

Next we entered the embassy's waiting room and sat at the back of the room, the immigrant visa section. We were the only couple waiting for an immigrant visa. After about 10 minutes they called us to the private booth #5. We sat down and they asked for some of the paperwork. Here is where being organized pays off. When they ask for a certain document, hand it in. After that you go back to the waiting room. We waited around thirty minutes and went back to booth five after they called our name on the loudspeaker.

The actual interview went smoothly. My wife explained how we met, a little about me, and a little bit about my family. Maybe being pregnant helped prove our valid relationship, we had a lot of pictures and emails but they didn't ask for much, just a personal scrapbook I had made on Shutterfly. The lady explained that we were approved. They give you some instructions on what to do next and that's that.

Overall a positive experience.
