Hi all,
I applied for AOS and work authorization together on the 6th of August at Chicago, ( $1070 for AOS and $380 for work authorization "Different Checks"). I got a confirmation from USPS that my application was received on the 11th of August. I waited for USCIS to send me a notification receipt to no avail. I gave them a call on Thursday last week and they gave me my confirmation numbers and said I would receive correspondence on my mail box this week. Three hours latter I received a mail and text stating same numbers they told me earlier on the phone. On Saturday morning, the $1070 check cleared. Today I received I-797C Notice of action stating a return of $380 check that it is an extra remittance not required to process my application. To this end, I think the NOA is self explanatory as I am meant to understand that I over paid. However, I have a question that's throwing me off balance.
1.Please when can I get my work authorization and how do I go about acquiring a social Security number?
2. Is it that I can just go with my K1 visa and this recent NOA I-797C to social security to obtain the number
3. Should I wait several months for everything to be sorted or
4. Should I call USCIS to explain all these for a better understanding?
I got a pending job that needs my social security before I can be enrolled so I just need every useful information keep life busy.
Thanks all
