Much like the others! Everyone that works there is lovely, the visa area is actually very small. I was lucky and was first in line (1pm appointment, showed up at 12:50) and there were no other visa types there. No J-1ers! I paid, handed over my documents, and twenty minutes later I was called up to the window for an interview. It's very open plan and not private at all, but you don't really notice with the nerves!
The officer told me I talked so much (nerves!) that I answered all the questions anyway. He just asked me to tell him about our relationship, how we met, any plans for the future. I think he tried to trip me up with one question; "And your fiancee lives in [Town]?" I almost said yes, but it was the town she was born in, which I corrected him on and carried on babbling about where she did live. It was so casual that I only noticed afterwards that it was possibly a trick question!
Just listen to what they're saying to you and even if you're as nervous as I am you'll have no problems!
