Our interview was scheduled for 2:00pm. We showed up 15 minutes early, but were instructed to return at 2:00pm sharp. Security was a breeze. Passport check and then they took our cellphones and a bottle of water and placed them in a locker. They allowed us to take my backpack and fiancees purse into the embassy. The embassy felt like a slow day at a history museum. An embassy official, my fiancee, another applicant, a couple of cleaning crew members and myself was all that occupied the lobby. She was given a number and told to go to a window immediately. There she spent about 10 minutes presenting paperwork and answering random questions. They instructed her to have a seat and wait for the actual interview. In about 3 minutes, she was called up for the interview. The man, started off speaking in English, but she asked if they could switch to Spanish. He was very nice and made the whole experience more pleasant. He started off by asking her where I was at which point she pointed to where I was seated about 10 feet away. He asked more random questions about our relationship and family and our plans in the US. After about 10 minutes of questioning, he motioned her to take finger prints and then he informed her that she will be issued a visa. From security to celebration and back out on the street, the process took about 50 minutes. They informed her that it would take about 10 days to get her passport back. It took about 4 for them to ship it off.
