Review Topic: K1 Visa

My interview for the k1 visa was a breeze ! I was scheduled at 8 in the morning and so I got there pretty early. As the people were led in, there was a lady there to collect there appointment letters and have a sit down till they are called. So after handing over my letter, i was also asked to have a seat and wait. After about 20 minutes, my name was called and I proceeded to the respective window where I was greeted by a local officer. He took my medical report from me which i had carried with me and asked me to wait. He came back and handed my back the reports and the other documents i has submitted at the vfs earlier. Then I was informed to go to another counter to pay the visa fee and again await to be called. After another 45 mins, i was called up for my interview, this time by an American officer. The officer was pleasant and proceeded to give me a sworn statement form and fingerprinted me. He asked my when I had traveled to the UK and for what purpose. Then he asked my why I had quit my job with Citigroup to which i told him "because i wanted to spend time at home with family" He asked me if i had an arrangement with Citi to join them in the US. I didn't so I told him so. I added that I might try to contact them when I have the required work permit in the US. Then he asked my how I had met my fiancee and when was the last time she had traveled to India. He asked me what her occupation was in the US and where we plan on settling down there. After this I should him some of the pictures of her last trip to India that I had carried as additional proof. He looked over them and returned them to me. He said that everything was in place and I should be expecting my visa in the mail in about a week.

All in all a very easy no stress experience. Inside about 2 hours I was done and free to go home with a smile. I received my visa in the mail in 5 days without a problem.

I think if you have a good solid case and back it up with genuine proof, there is nothing to worry about. They will not hassle you for no reason and will deal with you in a civil pleasant manner.

Hope this helps whoever is reading. Best of luck !
