We were very disappointed with the Consular that interviewed my husband. The lady asked for the requested documents for our case and any other proof we were submitting. We had a lot of proof that we submitted. When I had to send the original copy of our marriage certificate to the Passport Center to get my name changed on my passport I questioned sending the "original". I was told they ALWAYS returned the original...WELL... ours was NOT returned. They put a tracer on our original document but no where to be found...We had a certified copy of our marriage certificate with the official seal and stamp on it. The lady accepting our documents on the day of our interview did not accept it and put a line through the place saying it was submitted. When my husband was called up to be interviewed...I stepped up to the window and was quickly told that the interview was for him and for me to please have a seat. AND...I quickly told her that our certified marriage certificate was not acknowledged and told her the reason for the certified copy. To my explanation she said, "Well, for what we are going to be doing today....I have what I need. We have an age difference but I was told they could not discriminate against us for that reason and they could not deny my husband's visa because of that either. But, we were told most of the interview would be focused on that very thing...our age difference. After a very few questions asked to my husband, she gave him the "denied" paper with her explanation about something having to do with finances. My husband did not understand what she said to him so I went back up to the window and asked for her to explain it to me. Very reluctantly she said that he had failed to convince her that our marriage was a bonafied marriage but only one of financial arrangement. I looked her in the eyes and said, "No, THIS is about our age difference !!!!" Then, she said, "Well, NOT JUST THAT"...Soooo that told me that our age differences DID figure into her decision. We were told it can take up to 6 months to receive our Official letter from the USCIS explaining what her reasoning and findings were due to. I came back to the USA and obtained an immigration lawyer. She says it will take between 4-6 months for our Official letter to arrive. At that time we will be told whether we have to start this seemingly never ending proces over from "square one" ...or whether they will only require some additional affidavits. We are hoping to not have to start all over from the beginning. I am thinking they are wanting to push us up until our 2nd anniversary.We are together...in body (as much as possible), mind, and spirit. So we are not going away but will keep moving forward whatever they say we will have to do. If anyone has any help to share with us it will be greatly appreciated. I am just continuing to gather more affidavits and keeping good records of our phone and messaging times and keeping up our photo albums of our time together...We are hopeful in God's due time...I will have my husband on USA soil with me and we can move on down our road in life....together.
