The whole process was relatively painfree. We arrived in Madrid on Wednesday. We decided to make a little holiday out of it and had a great week in an apartment in the Lavapies area, visiting all the museums, etc. Anyway, Thursday morning, I had the medical, which took longer than expected so they gave me a 5 euro voucher to apologize. I had a physical with a really nice, friendly doctor, then went over my vaccine records and had blood taken by a really lovely nurse. I was in there for about 2.5 hours, mainly waiting, but I didn't mind as i had a book. Then I had a quick snack and went on to the Xray - a 15/20 minute walk. That was very quick. I got the results on Friday - they were available after 12.
The interview was fine too, although I felt nervous and knew they would take my mobile, but didn't realize I would have to give up my kindle too. Luckily, there were some really nice people there to chat too so the time went by more quickly. I went over my documents with a woman, had my fingerprints taken by a man and then had a short interview with the consulate. He asked an open question - "Tell me your story" or something like that. He also asked how i met my husband. Then he said I was approved. He was very nice and friendly. Altogether it took about 2 hours I think, but remember take a watch as they'll take your mobile and there are no clocks!
So my interview was on Monday 13th and I just picked up my visa today Friday 17th. Very fast.
