Our interview went very smoothly. The interview was for 9 am, but we got there at 8 to wait in line. I suggest getting there even earlier, but we had trouble getting a cab. We waited in line about 5 minutes, then an embassy worker asked to see peruvian passport, DS156 with photo stapled on, reciept of payment and interview letter. We went straight in while others stayed in line (I imagine they were getting visiting visas) and waited about 10 minutes to be called to window 14 where we handed in DS156, DS156k, and DS157, payment reciept and passport. then back to waiting. the next wait was longer, but finally we were called to window 12 where we were asked for the rest of the paperwork, our photos, etc and the lady asked us some questions about our relationship, where we met, how long we have been dating, when we got engaged, those sorts of things. Then back to waiting and this time we waited a really long time to get called to door 15. I was very scared about door 15 because people took a long time in there, and lots came out crying with the dreaded yellow slip. but we went in, he took fingerprints of my fiance, we sat down and mostly watched him review the paperwork. he asked very few questions, how long I had been in peru, where we are going to live in the states, and whether or not either of us had been previously married or have children, then he slid a little pink paper under the window and said, ok, you can pick up your passport in a week. I thought that meant approved but i wasnt sure because he didnt SAY approved.. so I asked and he said, yeah, of course. then i asked if there was anyway we could get it sooner because we have to be in the states on thursday, and he said he would do his best to get it printed today for pickup tomorrow. we went to wait at DHL, another long wait. we are supposed to be able to pick up the passport tomorrow, or the latest on wednesday. a breeze! all that worrying for nothing...
