I arrived at the Nairobi embassy at a few minutes before 0600. Soon thereafter the gate opened. People were called in according to their appointment times. First up was going to a window counter to hand over any documents they want to see, marriage certificate etc.. Then I went back to my seat. A few minutes later, I called up to have my fingerprints taken. Then I sat down again for a few minutes.
When I was called up the third time, I was sworn in and the interview started. Questions asked: 1. When were you married? 2. What do you do for a living? The consular then explained the visa would not be approved based on spouse not having a job. The people at the embassy were friendly and made me feel comfortable.
Note: A few weeks after denial, visa was approved after my husband's friend agreed to be a joint sponsor.
