My interview experience may not represent a typical interview in the Dublin Embassy so please don't presume it will be as easy.
Our original interview (23rd June) had been canceled due to the system failure so we were rescheduled via a phone call for 25th of June.
When we arrived at 9.45am there was a queue formed outside. I immediately thought we were going to be there all day. I presumed they had rescheduled everyone for the same day to try catch up with the backlog from the system failure. Myself and my son had appointments for interviews at 10am but my husband came along for support. I was sure they would tell him to wait outside but to my surprise they allowed him in no questions asked.
Due to our interview being rescheduled over the phone I had no appointment letter. I thought this might cause a problem but they never asked for any documents only our passport. We had to put our phones and liquids into a locker before we go inside the Embassy.
After entering the building we were directed where to go. We stood in line for about 10 min then called to a window. My husband was still by my side. The woman I spoke with was very nice. She asked for our passports , medicals and passport photos. That was it, she never asked for a copy of any documents. I had a bag weighing about 20lb full with copies of DS260's, AOS, IV, birth certs, proof of relationship etc etc. She asked me for nothing! She told me she was passing our files over to an officer to review and to take a seat. I'd be called when he was ready to interview myself and my son.
Ten minutes later we were called. I was sure he would want to see some of my documents, photos anything. No. He never asked me for anything. He handed me back all my original documents and continued to tick some boxes on a page he was filling out. He joked about how hot the weather is in Georgia and asked had I ever been!!!!! I've been there 5 times this year and I had every ticket to prove it but again he didn't ask to see anything! He continued filling out his form all the while I'm waiting on the interview to start. I'm becoming more and more nervous. Finally he asked what date I got married. I answered, convinced this was the start of 20 questions to come. Nope, he had given back the original marriage certificate to me and forgot to take note of the date so he had to ask. He looked up and said we were approved!
I was in shock. He joked a bit more about football teams and baseball with my son and that was it.
I'm unsure if my experience is an exceptional one but I'm extremely happy with the outcome. Please don't presume from this review that you wont get asked for any documents. Bring everything you are told to bring and more just in case. I found the staff lovely and the process straight forward. Good luck to everyone going through this process may it be as smooth as it was for me.
