Got to the Embassy way too early--like 5AM! The security separated the line by immigrant and non-immigrant visa applicants. The immigrant visa line was much shorter. The security makes you leave everything electronic outside and you can leave your phone inside and they give you a number to get it back.
The security asked about the ARAMEX paper to get the passport back. They asked us to write our phone numbers on the paper as well. We took a number and waited for it to be called. I didn't wait too much. Met with Egyptian lady staff. She asked for military exemption certificates and marriage certificate copies. She gave me a bunch of extra papers back that she said they didn't know. She asked how long have we been married and if I traveled to US before. Took my passport and ARAMEX paper and 2 passport-pictures. Told me to wait outside.
I waited about a half hour before meeting with the Consular Officer. Then the CO greeted me by name. I had a feeling I was approved before any questions. She was the same CO we met when we had our marriage affidavit stamped.
She asked about 3-4 questions. How did you meet? Do you have kids? Tell me about her mother and siblings? Where did you get married?
And then she gave me the approval paper, "congratulations, your visa has been approved." She gave me original copies of marriage certificate, birth certificates. Overall it went well and told me to have a nice day.
We wish everyone luck--as long as it's not fraudulent!
