My husband and I were in Ciudad Juarez from May 25 to May 29, his interview being on the 28th. We knew going in that my husband would be denied his visa at his interview due to his previous unlawful presence in the US and subsequent deportation. Since he's currently living Mexico right now, we will be submitting our I-601 and I-212 next week.
But on to the review, shall we?
HOTEL
We stayed at La Quinta Inn and really enjoyed our stay there. It was $52/night when I booked, which I thought was reasonable. There's a fridge, microwave, ironing board, and hair dryer. The hotel also includes free breakfast every morning and has a nice pool to swim in during the really hot days.There is a free shuttle bus tjay comes around every 30 minutes that can take you to all of your appointments, which was really nice since LQ is father from the consulate than the other hotels. LQ is a 5 minute walk from S-mart for anything you need, and buses that run right by the hotel can take you places if you miss LQ's bus (6 pesos/person).
MEDICAL
My husband did his medical exam at Medicos de Visas and he had an appointment for 8am. We were there for about an hour. He got a general physical and got 3 shots. We paid around $350 for the medical.
BIOMETRICS
ASC was really quick, my husband was in and out in 15 minutes.
INTERVIEW
I was nervous about my husband's interview not only because I knew we'd get denied, but because there was a error in his file that makes it look like he was in the US illegally twice, not once (which would mean lifetime ban and non-waiverable for 10 years). Anyway, I thought the CO would be harsher on him, so we practiced a bunch of questions prior to the interview. Luckily, they only asked him a handful of questions.

- did I speak spanish
- my address
No questions about his entries or deportation, which I was really surprised about. Anyway, he said the CO was nice and said that she couldn't approve him for the visa that day but that he could submit the I-601 and I-212. But that was pretty much it! Everything else was pretty much the same as what everyone else has discussed. Of course I wish we could've have gone the I-601a route, but that's okay. I just hope our waiver will be approved quickly.
