We were scheduled for an 8am interview, and we arrived at 7:30am. We entered the embassy smoothly, and waited about 2 hours before our number was called. We went to the first window where we spent 5 min at most. They wanted recent copies of all our civil documents plus that years IRS Tax Transcript since the latest one (2014) was finished after the Affidavit of Support was sent off to the NVC, and our interview was also already scheduled - so we brought it with us (don't forget to bring the latest one of your co-sponsor as well if you have one).
After we spent about 5 min with that person at the first window, we sat back down until our name was called for the interview at the next window. We sat for about 45min before we were called up. That conversation was about 8 min long. Very simple questions that any legitimately married couple could answer. I was allowed to stand next to my wife the entire time and there was a felt sense that I was included in the interview. This embassy had very friendly staff, I was caught off guard by that. The first person was Guatemalan, and the second person - the interviewer - was an American woman who was also super friendly. The only thing she asked for was pictures of us together which we were prepared to give. She complemented our photos and also was very impressed with the organization of our packets and Civil Documents. At the end her and I spoke in English and she answer a handful of questions I had regarding how long it would take to here that the Visa was ready for pick up at Cargo Expreso. She was pretty knowledgeable about questions not directly related to the "interview" and I walked away very comfortable about how to execute the final steps before we were to arrive at our Point of Entry (POE) in the U.S. (which is always the customs at the first U.S. airport you arrive at). She told me our case was approved, and that she would approve everything that day and that maybe as soon as 1 or 2 days it would be ready for pick up at Cargo Expreso at the location we selected. She said they would notify us by email, but it wouldn't hurt to call each if were trying to leave for the U.S. soon!
