San Jose CA | Review on April 3, 2015: | shinebright

This office is actually in Santa Clara, no longer at Monterey Rd in San Jose.
We got there 2 hours earlier (we live an hour 20 min away and was told to go early to avoid traffic), guards were nice (I recommend wearing tennis or shoes with socks and not pumps or any other open shoe to avoid being barefoot there when going through the metal detector), receptionist was mean to someone before me so I was intimidated but she even paid a compliment to me! You never know with some people. Anyway, after checking in, left my paper in the bin, we waited 2 and a half hours. I recommend going to a nearby coffee shop and get there like half an hour before your appointment to avoid waiting like me. Not that many people waiting but towards 10am more people coming in.
My representative was looking to the interviewers and saying "I hope we get her, she's nice" "that one is also great" "that's my friend" so I felt very comfortable and surprise! I didn't get any of them, got a very strict female interviewer, she didn't crack a smile, barely said good morning.
Went into the office (10:40, appt was at 10:15am) and started going through the application page by page, I answered to every single question in part 3 of the I-485.
Then she asked how we met and if we lived together in Mexico, she was surprised to hear we met at work and that my husband was in Mexico for so long. Then we get to the kids section, oh boy! my husband has kids in Mexico from two exes and the interviewer asked many questions about this and then some more to my husband, I almost felt like it was HIS interview and not mine.
He messed up some dates, I had to correct them but he is really not good with dates at all and he did not feel like he needed to prepare, just wanted to asnwer everything with the truth. Well, yeah, but still you need to prepare remembering those dates!!! Anyway, she then asked if we wanted to add any document and we said yes, showed her our rental agreement (unfortunately my landlord is not computer friendly and the rental agreement was looking very unprofessional being an old sheet that you buy at any office depot and handwriting, she also wrote my nickname instead of my first name - interviewer asked if I go by that name variant, I said no, that's just how she calls me), we did not have any bills with both our names (PG&E wanted to run my credit check and were being impossible when we first opened the account), we forgot the recent pay stubs from our sponsor, we did show her our recent insurance cards (insurance was also a pain in the butt, they gave my hubby a hard time when he wanted to add me with my new SSN), gym membership contract with both our names, church contribution document (this was provided by our church for our taxes), our taxes, photos (she looked at them very suspiciously but I'm sorry we do not have printed photos at our home, we keep them in our laptops, pc and social media. So I printed a bunch of photos at CVS from our wedding, holidays, family time, etc)
And I guess that was it, oh and our joint bank account - she also mentioned that we recently opened it but I just got my SSN, previously my husband's bank refused to add me because they had never seen an EAD before!!! We had to go to Wells Fargo and open a new one just days before.
She then said that was it and handed me a document, she said they would let me know through the mail in 2 to 3 weeks (how mean). I was concerned cause she didn't approve right then and there. At home I signed up on the website to receive updates as text msg and email.
Next day at 10 am I receive the notice that "new card is being produced"
