Interview went well, overall. Only question asked was "where does your fiance live?" The farang interviewer mostly just looked over the docs, everything else was through the female thai interpreter. My fiancee's passport needed amending and she was told she could return on Mondays between 1 and 3pm. Seems that is the only time you may return to the Embassy with amended docs, which she did. In Thailand, you can get a new passport in about 48 hours. Visa was issued the next day, Tuesday. her ticket to the USA was for 10 days after the interview, so no re-booking was necessary.
My fiancee was a little upset because the farang interviewer wasn't very friendly, and that only added to her anxiety over the affair. I understand being a US Embassy Visa Unit employee is a tough job, and you probably send a lot of folks away in tears, and probably see lots of scammers too. But a simple smile or acknowledgement goes a long way, and they need to also understand that it's not easy for the applicants, either. This is a long and difficult journey for everyone involoved.
