Review Topic: K1 Visa

The interview was fairly painless and simple. We were clearly over prepared, but we wanted to be safe and not have to return. My fiancee arrived 30 to 40 minutes prior to interview. She waited outside in a line with others. The security guard collected passports and checked to a list in his shack. Once cleared everyone entered consulate at same time. Again she entered another line to check same information. She bypassed the cell phone check in (she did not bring cell phone). There were arrows and paths marked on the floor directing candidates to windows and places. One the first floor she handed her passports to person behind the window and was returned with a green sheet. She was told to follow the red spots on the flor and went to the second floor of building. On the second floor she handed her green sheet and handed many documents t her. Now it was time to wait.

My fiancee waited about two hours before being called back to the interviewer. The interviewer was a man and was very nice and friendly. he smiled a lot and relaxed my fiancee. He asked how we met, where we met in person, and qualities she liked in me. He also asked my step son a few questions, his favorite sports, and what grade he is in. Overall the interview lasted about 10 to 15 minutes and he told her that the visa was approved.

The interview was on a Tuesday and the following Monday the two passports w/ visas arrived by courier.

My fiancees opinion is that the officer wanted to see her emotions about me, and feelings about me. He looked very interested in her answers and body language. The questions were easy, but semi-personal. He showed true interest.

Overall the process was simple, but the interviewer lighten the mood and made you feel relaxed. We were over prepared for documents. He didnt ask for any Skype logs, Viber logs, pictures, nothing ! In fact her handed back the photos that were included in our case file to my Fiancee.

My advise is to follow the directions provided by the Moscow website. Try and relax, and stay focused on the bigger goal. You will look back on this visa process and smile.
