I had my interview appointment at 09:30 am and arrived about 40 minutes early.
There are two lines next to each other outside in front of the consulate.
One for all the non immigrant visa applicants and one for all the others.
As a K1 or CR1/IR1 applicant you have to wait in the "others" line.
There were two windows open, one being responsible for the non immigrants
and the other for the immigrant/K1/citizen cases.
When it was my turn to go to the window, the officer asked me in English
what the purpose of my visit is.
After I told her I'm here for my CR1 interview, she wanted to see my passport and checked me off of a list (I believe) then she put a small paper with a number in my passport, returned it to me and told me to go through security.
The security inspection started outside where an officer was distributing transparent plastic bags, where I had to put my wallet + key.
Then I was allowed to enter the building where I had to put all my belongings into a plastic box that would be placed on a conveyor belt and go through an X-Ray machine (just like the ones at airports).
After that, I had to walk through a metal detector and wrap up the legs of my pants a bit, I assume to see if I hide anything there. :P
Then I was able to collect my belongings from the plastic boxes and was told to walk out of this building and enter a second building.
In the second building is the hall where all the interviews are performed.
When I entered this building, there were boxes in the hallway on a table where you had to put the small plastic bag (minus the belongings) that you received at the very beginning of the security inspection.
In the interview hall there was a receptionist at the entrance who gave me a note saying I should go straight to the cashier at window 22 (I believe).
I did that, and he asked me in German for my passport and the ustraveldocs printout that is needed to deliver my passport.
After that, he told me to take a seat and wait until the LED sign above window 21 shows my number and then go to this window.
After maybe 5 minutes, my number showed up above window 21 and I walked there.
He asked me in German to press my fingers on a fingerprint scanner for biometrics and then explained to me the SSN process and told me that I will receive a conditional Greencard since I'm married less than 2 years.
He also showed me how the envelopes look which will be delivered to your home if your visa is approved.
After that, I had to wait for the final interview with the consul.
About 40 minutes later I heard the consul call my name (not number) and I walked to her window. First, I had to swear that all the information I gave on the DS-260 form are correct to my best knowledge and that I will answer all questions truthfully. If I remember correctly, I also had to give my fingerprints again.
The interview itself was "small talk style" just like most other Frankfurt reviews describe and was conducted in English.
The questions asked were:
- Where did you meet?
- After how many months did you meet in person? (we met online, that's why  )
- Do you know each others parents?
- Has your wife ever been to Germany?
- What does your wife work and since when?
Then she was typing on her computer, which felt like an eternity, and finally told me "Everything looks good. You are approved!"
My CEAC status changed to issued the same day and one day after the interview I received an email stating my passport was picked up by DHL and is on its way to me. They are definitely fast!
