So my K1 visa interview was at 11am on 23rd Feb 2015. When you arrive at the embassy you go through security and hand over your phone, which they place in a small locker, then they give you an ID badge with a key to your locker.
After you go through security you go to into the main building to a large waiting room, where you are met by security guards who ask why you're there and tell you where you need to go.
In the waiting room there are hatches/windows numbered 1 to 4 on the right where you go to hand over your documents and pay the visa fee (I paid by postal order). Next to these there is a hatch/window where you have your interview (its very open and everyone can hear/see when you're being interview).
I arrived 45mins early and when I was handing over my documents I was told I'd have a long wait. The waiting area was full. Most of the people in there at that time were students applying for their J1 visas. When it got closer to 11am a couple more K1 visa interviewees arrived. In total there were four of us.
At about 11:30am most of the J1 visa applicants had been taken care of and the K1 visa interviews began. Each interview took only about 5-10mins, its really quick. I was second last.
During my interview I was asked, When did you and your fiance meet? Where does your fiance work? What does his company do? I was slightly stumped on the last question as I wasn't a 100% certain on exactly what his company does (at this point I thought I'd screwed it up).
After the questions he looked through some photos we had submitted and then briefly looked through our documents, then to my surprise he told me the visa was approved and that I should receive it in 4-5 working days failing any issues with the paperwork.
I have to say my experience at the Dublin Embassy was very good and took way less time then I had thought, in total including the fact that I was 45mins early, I was there for just over two hours.
