Guayaquil, Ecuador | Review on February 23, 2015: | Rick1984

Long story short (don't have much time right now) I had read all the horror stories here describing the worst. Frankly, I am wondering if there is a different Guayaquil somewhere else because NO ONE, literally NO ONE was rude mean or anything of the sort. Everyone was at the least polite and at best actually friendly. I had all the proper documentation ready for my fiancee and it was actually mostly a matter of waiting waiting and waiting some more. Finally they called us together and really they spent 15 minutes with us and really only asked us 3 or 4 questions and of that, none of them were very serious (i mean i was asked if i speak English lol). I don't know if they completely overhauled the staffing as a result of negative publicity or what, but really, as far as dealing with government bureaucracy goes, I have had far worse experiences. the 4 out of 5 is simply because the young intern monitoring the queue had less knowledge and experience than the local security guards and the guards had to instruct the presumably U.S. Citizen intern on procedures, and also, i am pretty certain that I speak better spanish than the officer who interviewed us hehe.
